The Hit: A Roleplay

He looks at her, "Tonight is perfect..., 7?" She nods and he watches her get out and walk off.

He sits back in his seat, this girl was different than the usual models he slept with. He didn't have much time to think about it, when he drove off and met up with his co-owner outside a business. It was a very attractive woman, she was african american and her hair was sleek.

He goes up to her and she looks at him pissed, "I'm sorry...Regina dropped off Anya."

The woman just gives a nod understanding and they go in, they meet with Noelle's boss and are escorted into a conference room. They make a presentation on how they plan to advertise this company and how Will is going to be here often to get real feel for the company.

During the meeting, their is a knock at the door and in walks Noelle.

Taylor and I have this thing. He's like a father to me, and he doesn't mind my bullshit most times, the only exception being how people see his business. I respect that. So at work I stick with skirts and blouses and a pleasant demeanor, and suddenly my regular way of speaking goes out the window and I'm as elegant as Anne Hathaway. It's a receptionist thing.

I carry in a tray of coffee and breakfast cookies and put on my best bashful oh-sorry-to-interrupt face and idly rap my knuckles against the door jamb. "I brought you and your visitors some coffee, sir-"

The words barely finish tumbling from my mouth when I catch sight of the man sitting across from Taylor. Will.

Will keeps silent, as his co-owner Sarah shakes Taylors hand, "Thank you, you will not regret your decision. We like to really dig deep into the companies we represent and make them look as good as possible."

Will is just silent, Sarah looks at him to say something and finally he does, "Anything you need to show me, or share with me about your company...I will gladly be here to listen to any ideas you may have."

Also, kill you. This is the first time, he's been assigned to kill someone who also happens to be a client for his undercover business and also the woman whom he just asked out's boss.

For a moment I just stand there staring at the Nordic god in front of me before I finally realize I'm supposed to leave. I set the coffee down at the edge of Taylor's desk and skedaddle.

Will exits a minute later while I'm sitting at my desk trying to look busy. His gaze meets mine.

"Small world," I offer, looking past his shoulder as Taylor shakes hands with the dark beauty from his office. Will doesn't seem to have a shortage of women at his side, that's for sure. I try to tamp down on my insecurity demons. She's a coworker, obviously. Nothing more. I hope.

Will looks at his co-owner and then to Noelle,"Yeah...really was not expecting to see you, pretty sure we agreed on 7."

Sarah walks past him, "Will..I'm heading back to the office, come on."

"Yeah, I'm right behind you..." He says, still looking at Noelle and it causes Sarah to roll her eyes and walk out.

He finally speaks again, "This is weird..." he admits.

"Weird is definitely a word for it," I say with a laugh. "I mean, if I didn't know you any better, I'd say you were a stalker or something."

"Stalking whom?"

At the sound of my boss's voice, I turn. "Me, of course. Will and I met last night."

Taylor's engaging smile falters the slightest bit, and then he amps it up into a grin. He extends his hand toward Will. "In that case, I truly apologize, Mr. Tanner."

Will just shakes the guys hand, not really making a connection with the guy. It's one of the first things his Dad taught him, being a hitman.

Wasn't his business why someone wanted this guy dead, he just had to do it.

He looks at Noelle, he was really starting to like her but it might make things complicated, "Listen, I'll see you later."

He heads out and is gone.

As soon as I get home from work, I hop into the shower for a second time. I shave almost every inch of my skin with the exception of the hair on my head and my eyebrows. I'm as smooth as silk. I am sexy. I am woman, hear me roar.

Moments later, Maddie sits across from me on my bed and studies my ensemble. "I like it."

"Nope." This comes from her son, Landon, who sits quietly munching on cheese puffs and getting orange cheese crumbs on my duvet.

I hold back a sigh and turn to face him. "What's the problem now, little man?"

"There's stuff hanging off," he says, nodding at the ends of my light black sweater and the fashionable layers hanging in strips around my hips. "You look like an octopus."

This kid. I groan and run back into my closet. "Look, I have half an hour to get this right because your mom spent the most of my time spreading goop on my face. Don't be picky."

His voice floats back at me from behind the closet door. "He's not gonna wanna kiss you if you look like a sea monster!"

I hear Maddie's barks of laughter and cringe. Fuck this. I settle on a pair of skinny jeans, some heeled black boots, and a black blouse that looks as if it's been ripped across the shoulders with the other shoulder completely bare. Might as well show some skin if I plan on showing him the rest later tonight, anyway. My hair is curled, waves falling and settling this way and that, giving me a windblown but sexy look, and I can admit I look good. I hope he thinks the same.

I step out and model my look for Maddie and Landon.

"You look like you got attacked by a bear."

"Thanks, Landon."

The doorbell rings and I take one deep breath. Then, faster than lightning, I scoop up my purse and run to greet Will at the door.

Will spent the day in his office, this was making the job a lot more awkward. He liked Noelle, was it possible to do all this and see her at the same time?

He decided it would be based on whatever happened tonight, so he headed home to change and was soon at her door, giving it a knock.

It opened, a little boy was behind it and he had very judgey eyes.

"Who are you?" The little boy said.

"Will...and who are you little man?" Will said, interested.

Crap, the little cheese-fingered bugger beat me to it. He's interrogating Will like a father grills a boy before his daughter's first date. And I don't even have a father.

"Landon," he answers, leaning against the door jamb and crossing his arms. He sizes Will up again. "Where's your hammer?"

I hear Maddie cackling behind me. I can't help but find it funny, too.

I breeze past Landon and pat him on the head. "I think we've put Will on the spot enough for tonight." I glance up at the man in question, and just the sight of his smirk and those impossibly large biceps straining against the fabric of his shirt have me squirming. "Ready?"

Will looks at her,"Do I really look like him?" Maddie nods,"Like a God..oh yeah."

They get into his car and he starts it up, looks to Noelle "So, I planned for us to do---" He suddenly stops talking as her lips are on his.

I couldn't help it. It seems I still can't. My lips are on his, my senses overwhelming. I taste the mouthwash he used, minty and irresistible, I smell that familiar cologne, I run my hand up the fabric of his shirt and make a path along his smooth jaw, skirting over his temple and digging my fingers into his hair. It's just as soft as I'd imagined it to be. And his lips, his lips are heaven. His hands aren't idle, either; they skim down my back and around my hips, gently kneading my skin, warming me up from the inside out. I can feel the magic he's working on me and it resonates between my legs, warning me to slow down or risk making a scene with a crowd of people around as witnesses.

Breathlessly, I pull away. "Wow," I pant, scooting back along my seat until we're a safe distance apart. My eyes don't leave his for a second. "Sorry. I had to. I don't have much self control."

Will looks at her,"How are you single?"

I snort. It's my go-to response. "I don't do well. With people, I mean. Emotionally." Honest is all I'll ever be. He might as well get a taste of it now. "Before I met you at the club I had just dumped my dictator boyfriend. He went through my phone and accused me of having an affair with my gay hairdresser."

Isn't there a rule somewhere that you don't divulge information about exes when on a first date? I just shot that all to hell. I squirm in my seat. "Jeez, Thor. You're like truth serum."

He couldn't help but laugh, "This Thor thing...I'm starting to like it, only from you." He drives off and keeps glancing at her,"By the way, you can fling yourself on to me...any time you like, I won't complain."

Does make my decision difficult though, he thinks to himself.

I feel my face flush for the thousandth time and tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "I'll keep that in mind." Boy, would I.

"Crazy that out of every client you must have, my boss is one of them," I say, looking to change the subject before I do something stupid. Like straddle him again while he's driving. "You're going to like him. He's like family to me. And don't be fooled by the stoic expressions. He's a big softy."

I catch Will turning onto an exit I've never taken before. Curious, I turn to him. "Where are we headed?"
