Casey winks at his girl and the guys agree to the terms, they break off and go to talk to some ladies. About half an hour later, they come back and lay out the numbers they got.

Val counts them out, as Casey looks at Adam "You may have the Aussie accent but you don't have blue eyes bro."

Adam grins and reaches into his pocket. "Oh, did I forget these?" He tosses down a wad of napkins onto the table and gestures for Val to count those, too. He throws Casey a wink. "The Aussie accent wins every time. That and the pecs."

Casey looks at him,"You know you're getting more business now, thanks to me.." he looks back to Val.

Val finally has the total,"It's a tie...plus one more, my number and it goes to Adam."

Casey looks at that,"What? That's not fair...Elissa, show your support and put your number then."

"Already your girlfriend, doesn't count...Adam wins." Val says, she smiles to Adam. Casey is annoyed, "Clearly, this is bullshit."

I laugh and step closer to Casey, my hand going for the belt loop of his jeans and pulling his body flush against mine. "You're the best in my books," I grin. I place a kiss on his cheek.

Val snorts. "Okay. You losers go find a room. I'm going to spend a little quality time with Adam." Her eyes flicker to Adam and she winks. "Or God's Gift to Women, he claims."

Adam slides around the table until he's at Val's side and slings his arm around her shoulders. "That sounds like a plan." His smirk is infectious, and I can't help but laugh. "Bye, guys. See you around."

Leaving our friends to talk, I let Casey wrap his arm around my waist and guide me through the exit.

I'm awoken by a call on my cell phone. Val's name blinks across the screen. Disentangling myself from Casey's arms, I roll over to answer it.

"How'd it go?"

"Lord have mercy on my loins," Val's sigh greets me. "Lady, the things I could tell you about that man."

I roll my eyes towards the ceiling and cradle the phone against my cheek. "Seeing as how Adam's my boyfriend's best friend and that I don't want to think about him in that way, I'd rather you not divulge."

"Too bad, bitch," Val shoots back, but I can hear the grin plastered across her face. "The things he can do with his hands? His mouth? And Jesus, Liss, that package belongs on a porn set. I'm seriously thinking of taking a picture and framing that glorious hunk of meat. It needs to be seen by the world."

I grimace. "He's an escort, Val. I'm pretty sure it already has."

She hangs up before I can say a word. Casey stirs beside me, and I can't help it. I flash him a naughty grin.

"That was Val calling to thank you," I explain, running my hand beneath the sheets until I find my goal. He's as hard as a rock, and I thank whatever gods that be for the occurrence of a good case of morning wood when he moans out a barely decipherable response. "She said to show you my gratitude."

Shutting up and letting my actions speak for me, I pull back the covers and get to work on fulfilling my promise.

Casey enjoys his weekend with Elissa and is back to work on Monday, meeting a beautiful blonde for breakfast.

They sit outside of a bistro and drink some coffee, croissants and they seem to laugh and get along. The woman starts moving her foot up the bottom of Casey's pant leg and he looks at that.

Suddenly, they are interrupted and Casey is lifted by the back of his collar of his chair and sees Mr.Palmer.

"This..is not what it looks like,"He starts trying to explain.

Mr. Palmer tightens his grip and pulls Casey closer, glaring in the blond's direction. "And what is it supposed to look like, son?" he demands. "Because the young lady there doesn't look like my sweet girl. The one who's dating you right now. The one who's already had her heart broken."

He shakes his fist, and Casey shakes along with it. "You tell me you're really not breaking her heart with this and I just might not break your neck."

Casey looks at him,"You just have to take my word for it...I am not cheating." The blonde stands up,"What is this Christian?"

He looks at her,"Just..some guy I know, look sir nothing is happening. You can even ask Elissa yourself, she will explain all of it."

He looks back at Palmer but the blonde comes over,"You escorts have girlfriends? Really?"

He looks at her, like why the fuck did you just say that and doesn't dare look back at Mr.Palmer. The blonde looks at this,"I paid for a date and I am not satisfied with the service, I will be calling your boss."

"No..don't do..that." Casey tries to plead but the blonde is long gone, looks back at Mr.Palmer finally,"Can you get off me now..?" As he tries to move the man off.

Mr. Palmer steps back a quarter of an inch at most, but the glare is only partly gone, replaced only with a look of angry confusion. "Escort? You're a goddamned escort?"

He pauses. "My Lissa is dating an escort and she knows about it? Bullshit."

Casey looks at him,"How do you think we really met? Look, it's my job and none of your business. Elissa and I have an understanding, all you need to know. I care about her and..I am figuring this all out."

Mr. Palmer falls silent, the anger still simmering beneath the surface. "There's nothing to figure out. If you want to be with her, you get your shit together. And this?" He gestures towards the exit through which the blond just left and the table of half-eaten dinner beside him. "This ain't together."

He backs off and shakes his head. "I'm calling Lissa. No goddamned way I'm letting her put up with this."

Before Casey can speak to further plead his case, Mr. Palmer turns on his heel and storms through the exit.

Casey swears frustrated and also tries to call Elissa, he gets a hold of her "Yeah...I know your at school but your pretend to be Dad just saw me with a client, he's pretty pissed the fuck off. I am giving you a fair warning..."

I flinch. "Shit."

The heads of twenty-three students pop up at once and turn on me, their tests forgotten the moment they hear their teacher utter a dirty word. I shake my head at them. "Finish your tests, students. I'm going to step outside for a moment."

They snicker behind their hands as I stride toward the open hallway and shut the door behind me. "I should have told him," I groan. "God, I'm so sorry. It must have ruined your date."

Before Casey can answer, a beep comes through, signaling an incoming call. I know without having to check that it's Mr. Palmer on the other end. "He's calling now. I'm sorry, baby. I'll tell him everything."

I click over and take a deep breath to compose myself. Mr. Palmer's booming voice fills my ear before get the chance. "What on earth, Lissa?" he demands. "You and an escort? I'm hoping to God the boy was lying-"

"He wasn't, Mr. Palmer," I cut in. "Look, it's a lot to explain. We're dating. But he's not so much an escort anymore as a... paid date."

"And you're okay with this?"

He's mad. Really mad. "He quit the most beneficial part of his job for me. Until he can find something else, he has to-"

Angela gets a call for complaint from a client, about Casey. That has never happened with him before, this new girlfriend of his is really not good for business anymore, if he won't listen, maybe she will?

My mouth drops open. This woman is his boss? She's... well, she's model perfect. And there's no good reason I can think of for her to want to talk to me. After all, Casey was her best client and now all he offers are dates. Clearly, even with the help of Adam and her other escorts, earnings have to be dwindling somewhat. She smiles at her,"Cute...just accept the drink, I want to speak to you about your new love affair and make sure you aren't leading yourself into another heartbreak, given Casey's history, I would want to know what you're getting yourself into and I know him better than any woman he has ever slept with."

Ouch. I try to keep my head high, but I know what that single reaction did for Angela. I'm pretty sure I looked downright crestfallen at her words before I thought to mask that emotion.

"Obviously, you don't," I retort, shoving the bills into her palm when she refuses to take them. "He quit the money making part of his job for me. You're losing revenue, no doubt, and you want to scare me away. It won't happen. I love him. And once he finds another job, you can kiss his ass goodbye."

She looks at her, "This is the only job he knows, it's where he found peace. Without it, he had no structure and would be dead by now, if I had not found him and showed him another way to use his looks and charm to make money, not by modeling...where he became involved with cocaine use."

"He will do it again, he is weak when it comes to fighting it. All it will take is a fight, a fear of losing you and he will hit rock bottom again. You seem like a woman who deserves a husband who will give her a family, white picket fence...that is not with Casey."

Drugs? I can't help it. I have a hatred for drugs, and hearing that a man like Casey once did them hurts. But then, I don't trust this woman. She could be spouting lies for the hell of it.

My defenses up, I cross my arms and take a step closer. "You know, you're really pathetic. You go off saying shit about my boyfriend, this honest, loving man, and expect me to change my mind? You're just mad because you lost the benefit of his services. You hate that deep down, he was never truly happy with you."

Enjoying this little game in some sick part of my mind, I come within inches of her face and smile. "Let's go deeper than that, shall we? I think you just plain want him. He's the prize you took for granted. Now he's slipping away and you can't do a thing to stop it but play mind games with the woman he loves."

Angela laughs,"I am sorry you cannot face reality, I saved him. It's why he works for me, why I had sex with him just after you ended it with him the first time and yes he is very good and I can have him again, very easily."

"You are in for a lifetime of sadness with him..that is my warning, have a good night. Keep your money as well." She says and walks off.

I've tried to push the events from this afternoon out of my mind, but I can't. I'm a nervous wreck, pacing around my house, tidying up things I'd tidied up only moments before, and generally thinking about too much shit. I didn't take the bait. I fought back.

And yet, I feel as if I lost.

When I hear Casey's car pulling into the driveway, I freeze. What am I even supposed to say? How am I supposed to act? Did he really leave out such an essential part of his past or was that a lie?

Finally, shaking my head clear of self doubt, I open the door and greet Casey with a kiss.

"How are you?" I ask. I'm not feeling it. My smile is off. And if anyone knows I'm the worst at keeping my emotions to myself, it's Casey. He frowns, sensing my mood before I even have to say it, and I feel like I've been caught stealing.

When I open my mouth, it's to blurt out, "I met your boss."

He looks at her, almost not believing what she said. "You met her..?" She nods again, he goes inside the room, seeing her expression "What did she say to you..?" He steps closer,"Tell me..."

Well, it's not like I can't be honest with him. It's all I hope to ever be. Especially when those soul-searching blue eyes are piercing into me. It's almost like I could just stare at him and he'd know what I need to say without saying it.

I gnaw on my bottom lip and look down. "Well, she wasn't very nice," I murmur. Casey's warm hand cradles my cheek, and against all the thoughts at war in my mind, I lean into him, enjoying his support and encouragement amidst all the seemingly never-ending drama. "She said she saved you. That I was in for heartache."

I swallow. "Well, she said some things about your past. But she's just desperate to have you back. I didn't put stock into a word she said."

He holds her but then breaks off, very pissed, "She told you things about my past?..That fucking bitch." He paces not even knowing what to do, "So...I am assuming you know about how I did drugs? That past?"

He looks at her.

It was true? I stare back at Casey, eyes wide, and register just how angry he is. Why didn't he tell me? Was it too soon, or was he willing to shut that part out forever? How much don't I know?

I nod. "Yes. But Casey, you could have told me. I wouldn't judge you. You have to know I would never judge you."

Casey looks at her,"It's not something I talk about and I cannot believe she would betray me like this. Me being happy is not good enough, no, she goes behind my back and does this?"

"I..,I'll be back later okay?" He says, heading to leave.
